An Introduction to the Physicians of 
Mercer Internal Medicine

Guy Nee, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Nee was born and raised in Saigon, Viet Nam, moved to the United States in 1979, and became an American citizen in 1984.  The son of Chinese immigrants, he is not only fluent in English but also fluent in Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and several lesser known dialects of the Chinese language. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986 and received his Medical Degree from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1990.  Internal medicine residency training was completed at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School program at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden, 1990 -1993, where he was honored with both Intern of the Year and Resident of the Year Awards.  Dr. Nee's interest in medical education has lead him to teach students and residents from local medical schools and centers.  In 1995, he received the Excellent Teaching Attending Award from the Medical College of Georgia.  He was board certified in internal medicine in 1993 and recertified ever since.  Dr. Nee became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2004.  Prior to joining Mercer Internal Medicine in November 1996, Dr. Nee worked as a general internist at the Westside-Urban Health Center, Memorial Medical Center, and Candler General Hospital, all in beautiful Savannah, Georgia. 

 

Michael H. Yamane, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Yamane was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Los Angeles, California.  His undergraduate training was at UCLA where he was awarded the Regents Scholarship (the highest honor of the University of California); he graduated with a B.A. in Physiological Psychology in 1977, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.  Dr. Yamane studied medicine at the University of California at San Francisco and received his Medical Degree in 1981.  His interest in community medicine, preventive health, and medical program planning and administration led him to a Masters Degree in Public Health at the University of California at Berkeley. Specialty training in internal medicine was completed in 1984 at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.  In September 1984, Dr. Yamane became a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.  Dr. Yamane was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1996.  Dr. Yamane has been in clinical practice in Mercer County since July 1984.  He has been honored by the Castle Connolly Guide as one of the "Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area" each year since 2001 and has been listed as a "Top Doctor" with "Inside Jersey" magazine since 2011.
